Now that we have learned how get the first full backup of your server data seeded onto the cloud server, let us take a look at another thief of time and money, namely, Restores. Ever tried doing a restore with lower bandwidth? Aggravating, I know!Luckily, it doesn’t have to be anymore. Vembu can now have backups restored locally to a hard disk and shipped to them. The only requirement from a customer is to make a service request to Vembu and send along a disk to complete task. That simple!
Steps to restore backup data from cloud:
1.Check Disk : Make sure your disk meets storage device requirements by going to http://aws.amazon.com/importexport/details/. If yes, proceed to step 2.
2.Send Request: Email a request to vembu-support@vembu.com with the following details.
b.Address to which the disk is to be shipped back.
3.Receive shipping Bar Code: You will receive a reply mail from Vembu with a PDF file containing a signature barcode and instructions to ship the disk.
4.Ship the disk:Print out the barcode and paste it over the disk to be shipped. Make sure you also ship the power adapter and required cables along with the disk. Inform the Vembu team once you shipped your package out.
5. Restore Backup data: Steps to follow on Vembu BDR console to initiate restore.
e. Once restore completes, inform the Vembu team.
6.Receive Disk: Vembu will export restored data to your disk and ship it back. The data will be in password protected zipped file format. Make sure you remember/have the password created when initiating restore.
