Download VMs & Disks
BDRSuite’s “Download VMs & Disks” recovery option enables you to download your backup data in multiple formats. Irrespective of the source backed up data format, BDRSuite allows you to download backup data in different formats.
You can download backup data in any of the following formats and use it to perform cross platform migration (V2P & P2V) and cross hypervisor migration (V2V)
VHD
The VHD format is a common format for Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machine disk images.
VHDX
The VHDX format is an updated version of the VHD format and is used for Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machine disk images.
VMDK
The VMDK format is a common format for VMware virtual machine disk images.
Flat- VMDK
The Flat-VMDK file format is a type of virtual disk image file used by VMware products, such as VMware Workstation and VMware vSphere. It is used to store the virtual machine’s disk data in a single file that can be easily moved or copied between systems.
RAW
The RAW format is a common format for storing raw disk data without any additional file system information.
How to perform Download VMs & Disks recovery
- In the BDRSuite Backup Server, navigate to the Recovery -> Restore Backup Data. You will find all the backup jobs configured in the BDRSuite Backup Server/Client.
- You can click on the respective backup jobs Restore button and you will be taken to the page where multiple recovery options are available.
- Choose “Download VMs & Disks” option and proceed.
- Choose the restore version. Then, select the backup disk that you want to download.
- Finally, choose the format in which you want to download the data, select the location where you want to download and then initiate the restore.
