Application-Aware VM Backup is a process of creating a consistent and reliable backup of the entire virtual machine, including the operating system, application data, and configuration settings.

BDRSuite supports application-aware backup and ensures consistency of your business-critical applications such as Microsoft Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, Active Directory by quiescing the application using Microsoft VSS. You can also free up the disk space by truncating the transaction logs after the backup.

How it Works

BDRSuite creates a backup of the entire virtual machine, including the operating system, application data, and configuration settings. During the backup process, BDRSuite quiesces the application and its associated data using Microsoft VSS to ensure a consistent backup.

The backup data is stored in the backup repository. In case of a disaster, the entire virtual machine can be recovered from the backup data, with all data, configurations, and dependencies intact (or) restore only the application-items that you need.
