Backup solution for RHEV Hypervisor
Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization provides a platform for businesses to create Virtual Servers and Desktops. RHEV is a bare-metal hypervisor that provides high-performance, secure and scalable solutions for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows Guests. VM-Level Backup Solution
Vembu offers an agent – Vembu Backup Agent (VBA) to backup the Windows VM’s running on the RHEV hypervisor. This agent needs to be installed on each Window’s VMs to backup the entire VM including OS, application, and data along with System State.
Full VM Backup – Backs up the entire virtual machine which includes the operating system, applications, and data in it.
Changed Block Tracking (CBT) – Vembu uses a proprietary CBT Driver to track the changed blocks since the previous backup.
Automated Backup Verification – The backed up VMs will be automatically booted and the screenshot of the boot screen will be captured and emailed to the administrator.
Retention Policies – Basic and GFS retention policies help to merge the multiple recovery points and reduces the time taken to restore the backed up VMs.
Application-aware VM Backups – The VSS writers are paused while creating consistent snapshots during backup of highly transactional applications (Microsoft Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, and Active Directory) and also truncates the logs after a successful backup.
Offsite Backup Copy – A redundant copy of the backup data from the BDR Backup server can be replicated to the user’s own data center or to the Vembu cloud for disaster recovery purposes.
Instant Boot VM Recovery – Restore the backed-up physical or virtual machines instantly on VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM hypervisors.
Instant File-Level Recovery – Instantly restores individual Microsoft Application Items such as Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, and Active Directory.
Full VM Recovery – Recover the backed up Virtual Machines permanently to the same or different hypervisor.
Application -item Level Recovery – Instantly recover individual application items from Microsoft applications such as Microsoft Exchange, SQL, SharePoint and Active Directory.
VM Migration (P2V and V2V) – Vembu helps to migrate the VMs from other hypervisors to VMware, Hyper-V or KVM and vice versa

Guest-level Backup Solution
Vembu offers Vembu BDR Client to backup File servers, Endpoints, and Applications running on Windows, Linux, Mac VM’s hosted on an RHEV hypervisor.
File-level Backup – Supports file backup on all the flavors of Linux machines, Windows, and Mac machines. Also, supports preconfigured folders such as My Documents, My Photos, Desktop, Browsers, etc.
Microsoft Exchange Server Backup – At times of critical situations, for complete recovery of mailboxes and system data, Exchange server backups are done. Vembu uses Microsoft’s Volume Shadow Copy Services (VSS) API for consistent backup of all Microsoft applications.
Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Backup – To access up-to-date mailbox data even in the event of a failure, it is necessary to do Exchange Mailbox backup. Vembu Exchange Mailbox Plugin backs up all the data of a particular user (mailbox) or you can backup just a folder (like for example the inbox of a user) or a sub-folder (like for example, a sub-folder in the inbox).
Microsoft SQL Server Backup – Vembu provides an efficient backup for MS SQL server. Vembu uses VDI API to backup database(s) and then uploads the locally dumped file to the BDR backup server.
Microsoft SharePoint Backup – Vembu provides backup for MS Sharepoint server and allows to perform restore of the entire SharePoints sites or individual documents, lists, and contacts.
Microsoft Outlook Backup – Vembu provides backup and restore for MS outlook which includes all the mail folders, contacts, calendars and tasks associated with the Outlook account.
MySQL Database Backups – Vembu supports MySQL database backup running on Windows and Linux machines, by using utility tools to dump the data locally before transferring it to backup storage.
