One of the things I am most excited to offer to our customers this year is a completely free backup and recovery solution for physical environments. If you were to line up all the other solutions available in the market today, you would not find one as robust as Vembu BDR v3.0. As businesses are transitioning into highly virtual environments, one way we can help businesses improve their bottom lines is by offering free physical backups. This greatly reduces the burden of having to use multiple vendors to achieve a cost effective business continuity plan.
Our initial decision to switch to free physical backups was not easy to make. That specific segment has been a profit generator for us for years; we could have easily continued to bundle it in with the rest of our product line-up. In-fact that segment was generating millions of dollars for us in revenue. With the way that virtual environments have evolved in the past few years we decided to make an investment in the future of IT.
Our physical backup solution is not something that we are choosing to limit because of the reduced cost. You will still get free support, the ability to schedule backups and export them as VMs. We recently received a letter of appreciation from Andrew L. of Absio Corporation, which is encouraging to know that we are making a difference.
Dear Vembu staff,
Thank you so much for providing an Enterprise class backup solution at no cost for the server backups and Disk Image, as it really helps small startup company like us to be competitive in the market. I have tested backups on Windows 2012 R2 servers, linux (CentOS version 6.6 and 7) and they are all working well. The scheduling and backup retention is so valuable, because I have not found other competitors that are providing what you did with cross platform support as well as you do for free.Certainly as we are growing bigger, we would consider your VMWare/HyperV backup solutions as we want you to make some money as well in the future.
I would like to express credits to all the staff:
* Developers.
Certainly there are some features that I would like to have, such as:
- Support for Windows 8.1 Disk Image backup for BDR client (this is the highest on my wish list)
- Changing the client’s BDR password
- Authorizing the client’s connection to server.
- On file backup/disk image backup, when editing a schedule (perhaps to change schedule), do not make backup to be performed at the end of editing.
I have been told that all the wishes above have been in your roadmap. Anyways, you all do a fine job for the product because the feature that are there, they are working reasonably well with no show-stopper bugs during my testing the past few weeks.
* Support staff.
Thank you so much for being responsive and reply to all my questions promptly. Your excellent support is really appreciated.* Sales
Your sales support has been kind and very courteous, and working with us patiently even though we had not committed to purchase a commercial license.We are pleased to keep working with you on the product. Furthermore, if you would like us to be your beta tester for your beta releases, we would certainly willing to do so.
