Google declared that it will now offer unlimited storage space for students of schools that use Google Apps. This new initiative is part of the Google Apps for Education suite and should be available within the next few weeks.
Students can store files on up to 5TBs (Tera Bytes) of cloud storage space, making their files easily accessible across devices within the Google Drive application. Currently, Google Apps for Education users are able to store up to 30MBs of data. While that may be enough storage space for most students, Google anticipates greater usage of Drive by increasing the amount of free space available to students. Furthermore, as students graduate, they are more likely to continue using Google Drive in their personal and business environments.
We are excited that a company as big as Google is taking the initiative and offering superior free products to students. This can only have a positive impact on the future of our education system. Google Apps for Education will make sure that our future leaders in technology have the appropriate tools they need to grow and learn.
