Ever since, Vembu’s flagship offering, Vembu BDR Suite v3.6 has been released, there has been numerous product reviews done by independent analysts and technology experts who have appreciated the simple but comprehensive mechanism of the solution. The forte of the Vembu BDR Suite v3.6 is considered to be its commonality and how the solution is able to cater to multiple requirements of diverse businesses at a very competitive pricing. Eiad Al-Aqqad’s product review of Vembu VMBackup v3.6 (part of Vembu BDR Suite) is very well affirmative about the aforementioned fact.
Eiad Al-Aqqad begins his detailed product review with the installation process of Vembu VMBackup. He comments that the installation happens in minutes and is a easier process. The reviewer also recommends not to use outdated browser for the installation and has his own obvious reasons for the same. The configuration process as per the reviewer is pretty straightforward and he was able to configure a vCenter for his test scenario.
When it comes to performance, Eiad ran some backup and restore operations in his home lab. He went on to say like this, “As far as backup speed, Vembu BDR was with a bit better than average of other backup software I have tried in my home lab before. It was not the fastest but it performed respectably fast enough for SMB backup solution. On the other hand, the compression ratio delivered by Vembu BDR was amazing. As I backed up my first 50GB VM into 5GB (This one has only 12GB data in it), but if you even just look at the compression of the actual data size, this is over 60% of space saving. This was one of the highest numbers I have seen between the backup solutions I have tested in my lab over time. It’s a pretty impressive ratio.”
Eiad then shifts his review towards the features and talks about how Vembu BDR Suite is rightly called as an ‘All-in-one solution’, then talks about instant VM recovery, how Vembu has an efficient storage management, Application aware backup and Granular Recovery (Microsoft AD, SQL, Exchange, & Sharepoint), Cross hypervisor recovery and so on. He finally concludes by saying that if one is in the SMB market and looking for a backup solution, then Vembu BDR 3.6 would be an option that is worth evaluating with it’s wide range of capabilities and very reasonable pricing.
