As a Windows fanboy here, I’d like to share an update on Microsoft SharePoint and Vembu BDR. As you might know, SharePoint(SP) is a web application from Microsoft that enables organizations to work more efficiently by letting users share documents, data and information. Organizations also use SharePoint to create websites. In general, organizations prefer SharePoint because it is secure, easy to organize and allows access to share information from almost any device.
For enterprises who rely on SharePoint, obviously they require the best backup software. The Software must be ready-to-deploy and help during critical times. With easy interfaces, the backup solution enables you to restore sites with no downtime. As SP is a preferred software for enterprises, our team has worked hard to provide an effective SharePoint backup software solution.
The comprehensive access in which SharePoint provides helps businesses to find innumerable research reports; it is essential for them to have critical data with analytics information. However, at times disaster wins. To ensure your data is protected throughout, periodical backups will save you every time. With a few steps, you can recover those SP sites and get the reports you need generated.
SharePoint makes it very easy to search through all your company’s files, and beyond that it can help you discover larger patterns. All SharePoint databases are saved in a MS-SQL database on a server. It is a very difficult task for any SP administrator to manage SP databases. Here is a solution you can try with the Vembu BDR backup application, which will backup complete SP servers in two ways:
- You can configure the SharePoint list (website) in the backup list
2.Configure the backend MS-SQL database using the MS-SQL plugin
Vembu BDR supports a site-collection level backup of SharePoint versions SPS2003/WSS2.0, MOSS2007/WSS3.0 and MS SharePoint 2010. Vembu BDR uses an internal SharePoint dump utility (STSADM.EXE), which offers a full fidelity backup, to dump the SharePoint site-collection(s) and then upload the locally dumped file(s) to the backup server.
In Vembu BDR 2.0, Sharepoint 2013 is supported. These are the ways you can restore the SharePoint Sites.
- The restored *.dat file can be restored to a site-collection.
- The existing new sub-sites, documents, events, contacts, etc. that were not present in the backed up site will be deleted. If the site had been deleted in the portal, that would restore the site-collection to the state as when it was backed up.
