VMware vSphere lovers have seen the release of the new version 6.0 last month – the foundation for the software-defined data center and virtualization solution for the hybrid cloud.
However, IT admins and SMBs who tried the beta release aren’t in any great hurry to have it in their production environment, even with jaw dropping features, such as extended fault tolerance (a single vCPU per VM in the previous version and now 4 vCPUs per VM).
Lack of a backup solution that is essential to support business continuity is mostly to blame for this inertia. How is it that a month after its release, proper support from a backup solution is still under question for vSphere v6.0???
There are numerous discussions over the Internet regarding this lack of backup support. The following was excerpted from one of the blogs.
Veeam, which made some noise back in 2012 with the announcement that it was the first to support vSphere 5.1 while others were slow to market, is literally showing no trace of support for vSphere’s new upgrade v6.0. Granted, its core function is to provide a backup solution that solely supports virtual environments (VMware and Hyper-V), but there is still something to be said about not keeping up with customer needs.
