It has been an exciting past few weeks at Vembu. We have steadily been preparing for upcoming conferences, which are coming up in September paired with our upcoming release of Vembu BDR v3.5, and we have CompTia ChannelCon only a few days away. With all this excitement going on we recently made a pit-stop in Indiana to attend a VMUG UserCon, one of my favorite events. I especially love VMUGs because you really get to know the local communities of VMware users and the different ways they leverage DR technologies for their businesses. VMUGs really provide you with a lot of one-on-one time since they are limited to less than 1,000 attendees.
VMUG Indianapolis was particularly interesting because currently with our upcoming release of Vembu BDR v3.5 and the new agentless Hyper-V capabilities it offers, we received a lot of positive feedback on how necessary that function would be for users to have in their environments, even though we were at a VMware focused event. We even had a couple Hyper-V fans take photos with our Hyper-V banner, which I thought was amusing to say the least.
While Hyper-V is currently gaining users by leaps and bounds, it won’t replace VMware, but what is important to note is that hybrid environments, whether they be a mix of physical and virtual, or a combination of different mixes of virtual environments, are clearly growing as businesses are becoming more competitive. This can be seen in many reports by Gartner. This push for hybrid environments, high availability and competitive pricing is what drives us to develop one solution that works seamlessly across VMware and Hyper-V. That same solution is offered free for Physical environments.
It was great to meet everyone at VMUG Indianapolis, and hear about what would make their DR solutions even better. I hope that Vembu BDR can help them fill that gap, and I am also looking forward to our v3.5 release in September. It will be a huge improvement for anyone looking for agentless Hyper-V backups.
