How does Vembu Backup for File & Application work?
Vembu offers Continuous Data Protection for the file backup and uses its changed block tracking algorithm to backup only the changes in the files/folders during subsequent incremental backup schedules.
To back up the applications, Vembu utilizes Microsoft APIs or Utility tools to dump the backup data from the application locally before transferring to the BDR Backup Server.
You can restore the backed up data from the Client Agents console or by logging into Vembu BDR Backup Server.
Key Features of Vembu Backup for File & Application
Registry Backup – Using the Volume Shadow-copy Service of Microsoft, Vembu supports backup of Windows Registry settings including the user profiles.
System State Backup – Backup critical system related components including Boot files, COM+ Class Registration database, SYSVOL directory, etc.
MS SQL Backup – Backup your MS SQL server databases and restore the required databases by specifying the recovery state.
MS SharePoint Backup – Backup the site collections from your local machine in MS SharePoint by configuring an incremental backup schedule.
MySQL Backup – Perform incremental backups of your MySQL databases using utility tools to dump the data locally before transferring to backup storage.
Backup Network Drives – Map the network drive and backup the files and folders in that drive.
Incremental Backup – After the initial full backup, only the changes made to the files, folders, and applications are configured for backup.
Interruption-free backup – Vembu BDR Suite intelligently picks-up the backup exactly from where it left off at times of interruptions so you don’t have to start all over again.
Deleted File Retention – Retain any number of deleted files/folders based on its version count or the number of versions created within a time frame.
In-built Encryption – The backup data is compressed and encrypted using the AES-256 bit algorithm to protect the data both in flight and at rest.
Compression & Deduplication – The backup data is compressed and deduplicated by VembuHive a patented file system from Vembu.
Disaster Recovery – If the client machine crashes due to unexpected system failure, rebuild the client with the backup jobs in the same or different machine.
Application-Item level Restore – Recover application items from the backup of MS Applications- Exchange, Sharepoint, SQL, Outlook, and My SQL Servers.
Restore at Server – Instantly restore the selected files/folders to the backup server from the BDR Backup Server console.
Bandwidth Throttling for Backups – Throttle the speed of the backup data transfer for a selected time-frame, to reduce the network traffic during peak hours.
Seed Backup – Transfer the full backup data to the remote backup server through any secondary medium such as an external hard drive or a flash drive.
