Test Connectivity to BDRSuite Backup Server
Test Connectivity feature will allow the client machine to verify the connectivity with the backup servers along with other requirements for a successful backup
How to get to the Test Connectivity page?
Go to the Settings tab and select Test connectivity to Backup Server option
Procedure
You will have two options to choose the servers:
- You can select a backup server in the drop-down box from the list of servers pre-configured
- Or provide a host-name or IP address of the backup server from the Let me enter hostname or IP option
Once you're done selecting the server detail, click the Test connection button. The result will have the following details checked:
- DNS Lookup- Checks if the client details are already present in the backup server
- Connectivity- Checks the connectivity status of the client with the backup server
- Compatibility- Checks the version compatibility of both machines(client and server)
Note: Backup server version should be equivalent to or higher than that of the client for a successful backup |
- Backup Server- Checks the status of the IP address/Hostname provided. (i.e) If it’s a backup server, DR server, or another client machine
Example of a successful connection
Result is:
- DNS Lookup- Hostname/IP “(backup server IP)” was successfully resolved
- Connectivity- Connected successfully to the server “(backup server IP)” on port ‘32004’
- Compatibility- The NetworkBackup Client edition and version running on the client “(client-name)” is compatible with that of the server “(backup server IP)”
- Backup Server- The server “(backup server IP)” is a backup server
Example of failed connectivity
Result is:
- DNS Lookup- The Client is not available on the server
- Connectivity- Was able to connect to the server on port '32004' but the server is not responding to the requests. Make sure you are running NetworkBackup Client on that port in the server. Also, make sure the version of NetworkBackup Client is '3.1.0' or higher
