Authorization

Authorization feature generates a unique passkey for the servers which allows only the authorized clients to get connected with Vembu BDR server using the registration key.

• From the Settings tab, choose Authorization option. By default, authorization will be disabled.

• On enabling the feature, a registration key will be generated which should be provided by the clients while adding backup server(while setting up clients or during backup configuration), for authorization.

• Below is an example for adding the backup server to a client using the registration key.

• Backup server is added successfully with provided registration key to Vembu VMBackup client as shown below:

Note:

When Authorization is disabled, clients do not require authorization key to add a backup server.

You can also reset or regenerate registration key using Reset Passkey option. The new key will not affect the clients which are added with the old passkey and every new client to be added should provide the newly generated registration key to add a backup server.

In case of having authorization enabled and group pass keys as well (Refer: Create New Group), you can use anyone to add the backup server to setup client where:

• Group passkeys add clients directly under a specific group created in a backup server.
• Registration key adds client to a backup server.
