Microsoft Active Directory Recovery
BDRSuite supports agentless image-level backup of Microsoft Active Directory Server running on VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V and Physical Environments – Windows. Also, it allows replication the Microsoft Active Directory Server from one host to another host (VMware/Hyper-V) for high availability.
How to Restore Active Directory with BDRSuite
BDRSuite supports recovering your AD Server backup data either as a complete image-level backup or allows you to perform a granular level restore of individual items – containers/objects.
Granular Recovery for Active Directory Items
BDRSuite supports instant item level recovery for Active Directory which include containers, objects, etc. You can either restore the individual objects to the same or different AD server.
- In the BDRSuite Backup Server navigate to the Recovery -> Restore Backup Data.
- Click the “Restore” button alongside the backup job which includes VMs/Disks running the MS Active Directory that you want to restore.
- Select “Microsoft Active Directory Recovery” option and proceed to configure recovery and restore the AD Server data – Containers/Objects.
Image-level Recovery of Active Directory
When the source AD server is unreachable due to a system crash or major disaster, you can recover the VM or physical machine by:
- Instantly restore the AD server as a VM on ESXi, Hyper-V or KVM with the Instant Boot VM option.
- Restore the entire VM in which the AD was running using the Full VM Recovery.
- You also have the option to restore the backed-up AD Server as a Azure VM using Recovery to Microsoft Azure option.
