What is Vembu BDR Essentials?

Vembu BDR Essentials is a special edition of Vembu BDR Suite designed for small businesses to backup virtual machines running on VMware and Hyper-V environments. Vembu BDR Standard/Enterprise Essentials is priced at half of Vembu BDR Suite – Standard/Enterprise respectively to cut down the backup expenditure significantly. It is available only for businesses having up to 10 CPU Sockets or 100 VMs.

Full-functionality Edition that includes the same functionality as Vembu BDR Suite Enterprise Edition.

Standard Essentials Edition

Includes a subset of the functionality of Enterprise Essentials Edition. And, has the same functionality as Vembu BDR Suite – Standard Edition.

Flexible Retention Policies – Vembu offers Version-based, Time-based and GFS Retention Policies to retain multiple recovery points that span for days, weeks, months and years.

Scale-Out Backup Repository – Vembu supports different storage media such as Local drives, NAS(NFS and CIFS) and SAN(iSCSI and FC). You can scale-out storages as and when required.

Rotated Drives as Backup Repository – Set up rotated drives as the primary backup repository to store the backup data in multiple external hard drives and swap them on a regular basis.

Backup-Level Encryption – Vembu allows you to set and use a system-generated or user-defined password to encrypt your backup data using the AES-256 bit algorithm.

Synthetic Full Backup – Create synthetic full backups by merging the full backup and all subsequent incremental backups instead of running an additional full backup.

Backup Job Template – Create backup templates using frequently used backup configuration settings or predefined backup policies, and use them to create new backup jobs quickly.

Instant Boot VM – Restore your backed up VMware and Hyper-V VMs within few seconds on any hypervisor: VMware/Hyper-V/KVM and meet RTO of less than 15 minutes.

Live Migration – VMs instantly booted from the backup repository can be migrated to production without any downtime. This will help you instantly restore a production VM restored in the background.

Granular Recovery – Recover only the required files, folders, or MS Application items directly from the backup without the need to restore the entire machine every time.

Cross-Platform Migration – Download your backed up VMs into different virtual file formats like VHD, VMDK, Flat.VMDK, VHDX, and RAW. The downloaded disks can later be used to migrate your backup VMs to different hypervisors or platforms.

Offsite Copy/DR – Ensure additional data protection by replicating a copy of your backup data to a local server in a remote location or public clouds: AWS/Azure/Google or Vembu Cloud for disaster recovery purposes.

Automatic backup verification – Vembu BDR Backup Server verifies the recoverability of the backed up VMware and Hyper-V VMs with its 3 tier automated backup verification – Integrity test, Boot test, and Mount test.
