Backup Components

The components that are mentioned below are required for Vembu BDR backup server to work without hindrance

• Vembu BDR Backup Server
• Storage Repository
• PostgreSQL

Vembu BDR Backup Server

You must download the Vembu BDR backup server installer and run the installer file with administrative privileges (VembuBDRSetup). Move the mouse over the Download Installer option, you can view the supported versions. Download Vembu BDR Suite from here - Vembu BDR Suite

Before proceeding with the installation, verify the system requirements here - System Requirements - Vembu BDR Backup Server

Storage Repository

The location to which your Vembu BDR backup server will be installed. You can customize the installation location for Vembu BDR server.

The recommended installation path is C:\Program Files\Vembu\Vembu BDR

• The installation location consists of the application files such as
• apache files
• conf files
• exe files
• bin files
• drivers
• log files
• registry
• copyright and license files

PostgreSQL

PostgreSQL is the internal database we support. When choosing a drive for PostgreSQL installation, make sure at least 10 GB of free storage space is available.

Prerequisite - 1.2 GB of free space for installing Vembu BDR server

We recommend choosing a drive for PostgreSQL other than OS drive and a mapped drive. Choosing a mapped drive may have an impact on the performance of your backups

We recommend selecting a drive for PostgreSQL storage which is low on latency and high storage

PostgreSQL Recommendations

• If you select PostgreSQL, data caching is done at OS-level. Consider increasing the OS cache.
• Know how the checkpoints function in PostgreSQL and the default sizing functionality.

We do not recommend you to configure your backups and database in the same location
